DHI DISNEYLAND BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION~Alice in Wonderland

Walt Disney at the opening of the Alice in Wonderland Attraction. Of note is the
not-quite-so-up-to-standards White Rabbit (which many of you may remember from
Becky Cline's and My "Weird Disney" presentation at Destination D--the infamous
Donnie Darko rabbit). Surprisingly the Chip and Dale are pretty good character costumes
for the time period. June 14, 1958.

Speaking of rather frightening costume characters, here Mickey and Minnie Mouse join the White Rabbit at
the official opening of the attraction. Mouseketeer Karen Pendleton is a darling stand in for Alice. My personal
feeling about this photo is that Walt is thinking "Okay, where did we get this rabbit from?" June 14, 1958.

  1. I am always surprised when I see these early costumed characters - not only are they "off" character, they are just downright creepy! Otherwise, have loved looking at these photos!

  2. Are you sure that's Chip & Dale. I think they might be Bongo and Lulu Bell from "Fun and Fancy Free". These pictures are great. Thanks
