Okay, I said “two in a row” but I just realized that “yesterday’s” post was after Midnight (I did not hear any clock chiming away), and so some of you good DHI patrons might consider it a weak streak of “two in a row” … and not wanting to offend or create controversy, I decided another quick post would redeem your loyal DHI curator! So, I offer what was to be a combined Thanksgiving/Christmas post, but I got too involved with other projects this last month (one said project was helping to teach the Museum Interpreters at the Walt Disney Family Museum — so it was a worthwhile project). This wonderful newspaper clipping is from the Philadelphia Inquirer of November 25, 1932. It features the Gimbel’s Thanksgiving Day parade from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, with the Mickey Mouse Float passing the Inquirer’s building (little free publicity for the newspaper). And no, you are not seeing double or even quadruple, there are indeed four Mickeys. This could have been to promote the Mickey Mouse Club at a local theater, but more than likely it concerned itself with the Mickey Mouse comic strip. Enjoy it! (With apologies to Maurice Chevalier!)
