The Hudson Motor Company of Detroit Michigan was in business from 1909 to 1954. In 1954 they merged with Nash-Kelvinator Corporation to form American Motors. If these three names sound familiar, they should, as they were all one of the early sponsors of the Disneyland TV Show. This Hudson Family Magazine Volume 1 Number 3 is from early 1955 and was published very briefly for the “Friends of Hudson Dealers.” In early acts of synergy, many of the companies that became sponsors with Disney, also cross promoted the Disney Product in there house publications, such as this. The article inside, is a nice and simply story about Disneyland, making use of concept art that was used also for the pre-opening Disneyland postcards. Some of this same art (mostly Bruce Bushman) can be seen on the cover with Walt. According to the front, Disneyland was a “20-Year Dream Come True.” That would put Walt’s first dream in 1935. A little early, we here at the Institute think.
